Here To Stay
WHEN: Saturday, October 29, 2016 | 5-9PM
WHERE: Percolator Arts Gallery, Alley behind the Arts Center
Lawrence’s youth curatorial board, HANG12, produces, curates, and installs monthly Final Friday shows at local galleries in partnership with community artists. HANG12 has put on twenty shows in twenty months, a staggering amount of time, commitment, and sheer love of process. Come celebrate our success at the Percolator. HANG12 has carved a large paneled relief mural and taken prints off the mural. Calling into question the divide between making and presenting, HANG12 poses the question of what is the real art, the matrix or the print? By hanging them side by side, process and product are unified. The mural highlights the development of the mind through the arts and how identity is formed. Prints will be for sale and as well as a unique opportunity to pledge support to the group for the permanent display of the mural in our community. All these proceeds ensure the future success and endeavors of HANG12 and enrich not only our community’s youth engagement, but the quality of the arts opportunities for both artists and viewers. Please come celebrate with snacks, music, t-shirt screenings, and the unveiling of the mural at the Percolator Arts Gallery, 5-9pm, Oct. 28, in the alley behind the Lawrence Arts Center.
