WHEN: Saturday, May 14, 2016 | 5-9PM
WHERE: Lawrence Public Library, 707 Vermont St.
Live Soundtrack partnered local musicians with experimental films and was performed at the Lawrence Public Library. HANG12 reached out to both local, national, and international filmmakers to gain access to their films and then gave these films to three local bands: Obi, Fathoms, and Tremors. Each band created a live soundtrack to a seminal experimental film (Fathoms to Michael Langan’s Choros (2011), Tremors to Maya Duren’s Meshes of the Afternoon (1943), and Obi to Kijek/Adamski’s Noise (2015). Each band then played their own original songs to a variety of ambient and experimental video selections. This event was a promotion for the upcoming HANG12 show Nouvelle Lumiere, an experimental film showcase that will be shown at the 2016 Free State Festival in Lawrence, KS in late June.
