Since Hang12 isn’t able to host in-person openings, we’re bringing the shows to you! To view the pieces from Printed Pulp, our collaboration show with the KU Printmaking department, follow the link in our bio (hang12.org) & click on the “Shows” tab! It was such a wonderful experience to work with these emerging artists and to learn more about KU’s art programs, and we are so glad that we’re still able to display their work.

Hello, everyone! The Hang12 team is hoping that you’re all staying healthy and looking after yourself + your community. As you may know, the Lawrence Arts Center (along with many other public spaces) is closed for health & safety concerns. Subsequently, Hang12’s physical meetings have been put on hold for the time being. That being said, we are all committed to working remotely & supporting Lawrence’s art community! We have a few updates to share with all of you:
1. Printed Pulp, our collaboration show with KU, will be postponed. The updated date will depend on the state of community health mandates.
2. Our April stARTup solo show is currently set to open as planned—we will be updating you as we find out more!
3. Hang12’s hiring period will be modified. We are currently figuring out the updated deadlines, logistics of interviews, and so on. We are all excited to meet with those who are interested in being apart of this group starting this summer (even if we can only meet in the cyber sphere!).

UPDATE: Printed Pulp will be postponed for the safety and health of our community. We will make sure to let you all know when the modified opening will take place!
Printed Pulp, a collaboration show with the KU Printmaking Department, will open next Thursday from 3:30-5:00 at the Career Center! Hang12 curated a mix of print pieces of many different techniques & subject matter, creating an eclectic show that highlights the talent of these printmaking students. We hope to see you all there!

We’re excited to showcase pieces from these local emerging artists, especially in a gallery as relevant as the Career Center. Make sure to check out “A Private Place in a Public Space: Exploring Identity and Accessibility in Public Restrooms”! Local artists were given blank lineart of a restroom--as seen on the showcard--and prompted to add onto it based on their personal experiences, whether related to gender, physical disability, economic status, parenthood, or something else entirely. The opening will be at Gould Evans (706 Massachusetts) on February 28th from 5-9 PM. Stop by to appreciate some local art and peruse through Hang12’s new merch!

Hang12 is excited to announce our upcoming show Parts of a Whole, which will be opening Friday, January 31st from 5-9 pm at Edward Jones (888 New Hampshire Street). Parts of a Whole is a mixed media show centered around unconventional portraiture in red, orange and purple hues. These pieces have been created by students in stARTup-- a program that teaches young artists the artistic and professional ins-and-outs of art creation and exhibition. This show will be running through March. Stop by to support emerging high school artists in Lawrence!

Today’s Visionquest was busy—filled with brainstorming & pizza! We met with Gould Evans & a representative from Youth Core to plan out the rest of this year’s shows. We also celebrated the last day of Charlie, one of the Foundations members who has been part of Hang12 since 2018. A productive Tuesday!
